Free council-run trails in the Irwell Valley on the edge of Whitefield, ten minutes from north Manchester. The 3.5km red Black Dog Trail runs as a figure of eight through North and South Wood with sweeping berms, tabletops and short punchy climbs, and links to the 3km blue purpose-built singletrack at neighbouring Waterdale. The red trail surface was resurfaced and new features added in early 2026 in partnership with Dirt Factory. Free parking on Park Lane, M45 7QJ.
