Castle Ward

National Trust estate on the shore of Strangford Lough with 21 miles (34km) of multi-use trails shared between walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Riding is easy, family-oriented ground: the accessible 1.9km Shore Trail, estate and farm loops through woodland and meadow, and the longer Boundary Trail circuit out past Audley's Castle and the Deer Park. Expect gates, livestock and walkers on the shared sections. National Trust admission and parking charges apply (free to members); bike hire from reception, Stableyard tea-room, shop and toilets on site, plus a caravan park and holiday cottages.
